Common Questions
Dumpster Size FAQ
What are the most common roll-off dumpster sizes?
The most common sizes are 12, 15, 18, and 20 cubic yards. Iron Eagle Dumpster Rentals carries all four sizes. The 15 yard is our most popular choice for residential projects because it handles most remodel and cleanout jobs without being oversized.
How do I choose the right dumpster size?
Start with the scope of your project. Small cleanouts (one room, garage, attic) fit a 12 yard. Kitchen and bathroom remodels typically need a 15 yard. Larger renovations and roofing tear-offs work best with an 18 yard. Full home renovations and construction sites should go with the 20 yard. When in doubt, call (972) 955-3882 for a free recommendation.
What fits in a 15 yard dumpster?
A 15 yard dumpster holds roughly 5 pickup truck loads of debris. It measures about 12 feet long by 8 feet wide by 5 feet tall. This size handles kitchen or bathroom remodels, deck removal, flooring tear-outs, and mid-size home cleanouts comfortably.
What is the weight limit for a dumpster rental?
Weight limits depend on the size. Our 12 and 15 yard dumpsters include 1 ton (8,000 lbs). The 18 and 20 yard dumpsters include 2 tons (8,000 lbs). If you go over, there's an overage charge of $95 per ton, prorated. Most residential projects stay well within the allowance.
Can I put furniture in a dumpster?
Yes. Couches, mattresses, tables, dressers, desks, chairs, and other household furniture are all accepted. Just break down larger items when possible so you can fit more. This makes dumpsters ideal for estate cleanouts and move-outs.
How long can I keep the dumpster?
All rentals include up to 7 days. If you need more time, just call us to extend your rental. We're flexible and will work with your project timeline. Extensions are available at a daily rate.
What if I order the wrong size?
It happens. If you fill your dumpster before your project is done, call us and we'll swap it out or bring a second container. If you're not sure which size you need, call (972) 955-3882 before you order and we'll help you pick based on your specific project.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in my driveway?
In most Denton County cities, no permit is needed if the dumpster is placed on your private property (driveway, yard, etc.). If you need the dumpster placed on a public street or right-of-way, a permit may be required. We can advise you based on your city's rules.
Can I put concrete or dirt in a dumpster?
Small amounts of concrete, brick, or dirt mixed with other debris are generally fine. However, a dumpster loaded entirely with heavy materials like concrete will exceed weight limits quickly. For large quantities of heavy material, call us first so we can advise on the best approach and pricing.
Do you offer same-day dumpster delivery?
Yes. We offer same-day delivery throughout Denton County and North DFW when you call before noon. Next-business-day delivery is available for all orders. We also accommodate specific time windows when possible. Call (972) 955-3882 to schedule.
